Meet Sally

Coal and Candyfloss was started by Sally Jones in 2021.

She started creating a long time before that though.

By the age of 8 she could already knit and sew, having been taught by her mum. Her mum was a keen sewer who made fabulous outfits for Sally and her three sisters. Sally was obviously inspired by these skills and started making clothes for her own dolls. In her teens it progressed into making clothes for herself and friends to wear out at the weekend.

Fashion College was always where she wanted to go.

College and Career

I graduated from the world renowned Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London where I gained a degree in Fashion design and knitwear.

I spent 25 years in the Fashion industry designing childrenswear for the High Street Stores and Multiples both here in the UK, across Europe and China.

I designed both styles and graphics for boys and girls from baby to teenagers. I think this is where my love of colour and print has come from.

Slow fashion

Having witnessed the growing wastefulness and throw-away ethic of ‘fast fashion’ and the damaging effect it has on the environment I made the decision to go back to my first love - creating hand made gorgeous clothes. My dream is to design and make fabulous, high quality clothing that can be worn time and time again.

There is nothing quite like finding a fabulous fabric and drafting a pattern to create the dress of your dreams.

Unlike alot of manufacturing you will see in the High street, Coal and Candyfloss is known for its high quality and workmanship. I specialise in beautifully cut clothes, expertly sewn with a very high quality finish and intricate detailing.
